Summer Scholars gives high school students the opportunity to strengthen or accelerate their academic skills, as they participate in a community work readiness program.
Program Overview
Summer Scholars partners with local community organizations offering work readiness skills to 9th- 12th grade students. The program provides students with a customized learning plan and premium digital curriculum created to help fill in academic gaps and accelerate learning in the areas of reading and mathematics. Summer Scholars also experience weekly virtual or in person meetings with a personal Academic Advisor to review progress, celebrate achievements, or receive additional academic guidance, in collaboration with Blue Star Virtual Learning.
ELIGIBILITY
Unlike many programs, Summer Scholars not only selects students that have demonstrated high academic ability throughout the year. Participants in the program are also eligible if they are currently struggling academically or need additional support and guidance. This model creates a space that empowers young people to take control of their learning, deemphasizes academic competition, and celebrates personal achievement and growth.
